Drum Tao pairs extreme physicality with the unique sound of the Japanese Wadaiko drum.

This is Drum Tao’s only performance in Connecticut in 2024 and we invite the entire community to join us. If you haven’t been to the Quick Center yet, this is a great time to check us out.

The Fairfield University Quick Center for the Arts will present a high-energy performance by Drum Tao on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 4 p.m. Drum Tao combines fast-paced choreography, music, dance, and martial arts performed with power, speed, and synchronicity.

Drum Tao utilizes traditional Wadaiko drums – large, unique Japanese instruments that sound like rolling thunder – accompanied by Japanese flutes, marimbas, and harps.

Based in Oita, Japan, Drum Tao has been touring the globe since 1993, sharing their talents with more than 9 million spectators. The international troupe of 40 performers has collaborated with the Bolshoi Ballet, staged sold-out productions off-Broadway, and has appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and at the Olympics.

“We’re thrilled to have the immensely talented Drum Tao perform at the Quick Center for the first time this February,” noted Peter Van Heerden, executive director of the Quick Center. “They bring a contemporary and original energy to a traditional Japanese art form.”

“This is Drum Tao’s only performance in Connecticut in 2024 and we invite the entire community to join us,” he added. “If you haven’t been to the Quick Center yet, this is a great time to check us out.”

The Quick Center thanks Fairfield Lifestyle, In A Fairfield Minute, Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation, and Silverman Group for their sponsorship of the performance. This event is also made possible through the generous support of Norman and Celeste LaCroix.

Tickets are now on sale on quickcenter.com for $35 and $25 for Quick Members.
