Andersen is the only first-year in consideration for the prestigious honor.

Fairfield University Women's Basketball first-year standout Meghan Andersen ’27 has been selected as one of just 15 players nationally on the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Midseason Watch List. Andersen – the only first-year on the Watch List – is the MAAC’s leading scorer with 17.9 points per game.

"This is a tremendous honor for Meg and our program," said Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis. "Being the only freshman on the list shows that she truly has developed into one of the best first-year players anywhere in the country, and our team's success has allowed her to showcase that on a national level. We are so proud of Meg for continuing to put her head down and work and not be satisfied regardless of her incredible accomplishments thus far."

Andersen has won a total of 10 conference weekly awards, has been selected the as the MAAC Player of the Week twice, and has earned MAAC Rookie of the Week laurels eight times – including six in a row. She leads the Stags in seven different statistical categories, including scoring (17.9 points per game), rebounding (6.1 per game), three-pointers per game (2.3), and blocks per game (1.5).

Nationally, Andersen ranks fifth among all Division I rookies in points per game, while placing third in field goal percentage and seventh in three-pointers per game.

Andersen's success has helped the Stags to a 14-1 overall record and a perfect 6-0 mark in the MAAC while receiving votes in the National AP-Top 25 poll for the first time in program history. Fairfield has also won 12 consecutive games, the third longest active streak in the nation.

The 10 semifinalists for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year award will be announced in February, followed by five finalists to be unveiled in early March. The winner of the award will be revealed during the Final Four.
