Fairfield Develops Leadership Fellows Program to Build Pipeline of Leaders

The program is a strategic initiative to acquire talent from our pool of recent Fairfield master’s degree recipients and prepare them for future leadership positions.

Fairfield University takes the lead in talent development with the launch of its Leadership Fellows Program (LFP). Designed to cultivate a robust leadership base below the director level, the LFP invites recent Fairfield master’s degree graduates to evolve into broadly developed, organizationally connected leaders, ready for first-tier leadership roles within a few years of program completion.

The Leadership Fellow role is a full-time position consisting of rotations through three cross-functional assignments within the University’s core business operations: Academics, Enrollment, and Advancement. Throughout the two-year term, employees participate in comprehensive leadership training and development as well as one-on-one mentoring with senior leadership. Their assignments will include tackling strategic, financial, and operational projects. The immersive experience blends team-based and individual work assignments ensuring a broad understanding of key University functions.

“Fairfield’s innovative Leadership Fellows Program responds to a need to identify emerging talent among our recent graduates and provide opportunities to nurture a pipeline of capable future leaders,” said Scott Esposito '82, MS'87, former vice president and now human resources advisor to the President. “Through performing data analyses, problem-solving, and process improvements, program participants support the University’s strategic growth initiatives related to scale and organization maturity. We fully expect the LFP to build a sustainable source of critical skills while providing valuable, hands-on, market experience.”

Successful completion of the program opens doors for candidates to be considered for continued employment at the University, including positions from the sponsoring departments or any other open positions of interest for which they are qualified.

The University plans to fill up to four positions by July 1, 2024, and subsequently on an annual basis. Current Fairfield University master’s degree candidates or recent alumni interested in applying are encouraged to explore the Fairfield University Employment Opportunities list for more information.
