The Stags celebrate the March 6 win over Vermont.

The Stags have won eight consecutive games.

For the first time since 2009, Fairfield University Women’s Lacrosse has entered the national rankings. Winners of their last eight games, the Stags are currently #19 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll and #25 in the IWLCA Coaches’ Poll.

Fairfield is 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in the MAAC, most recently knocking off Iona by a 16-6 final on Wednesday at Rafferty Stadium. The Stags are back at home this Saturday, March 30, to host Canisius at noon. Admission is free for all fans to all regular season home games this season.

The Stags’ eight-game winning streak includes the first two victories over nationally ranked opponents in program history (#24 UConn and #23 UAlbany) as well as four wins over teams that qualified for the NCAA Championship last season (UConn, Albany, Drexel, Sacred Heart).

Under the direction of ninth-year head coach Laura Field, the Stags are the five-time defending champions of the MAAC. Fairfield has also won four of the last five MAAC Regular Season Championships. In total, the Stags have won a conference-best eight MAAC Championships and have made seven NCAA postseason appearances.
