Answers to your online learning questions.
Fairfield University has no specific computer requirement for online students, though we do recommend a reasonably new Mac or Windows computer that has the latest possible operating system updates and anti-virus protection.
Students are, however, encouraged to check with their program director for any specific requirements.
Our programs have been designed to meet licensure and certification requirements within and for the state of Connecticut. We encourage students to contact the professional licensing boards of states in which they are planning to work (if outside of Connecticut) to determine whether our programs meet their licensure or certification requirements.
We continue to research and update information on our Online Compliance and Disclosures page.
The education landscape is rapidly changing, particularly with distance learning programs. To help ensure effective, consistent regulation of these distance learning programs, the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) was formed. NC-SARA provides a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.
NC-SARA has established rigorous standards for member institutions. Fairfield annually certifies that it meets these criteria in its membership renewal. As a result, we are authorized to admit students into online courses and programs from all states that participate in NC-SARA.
Any complaints brought against Fairfield University must first be registered and addressed through Fairfield University procedures:
- For student academic grievances, please see the undergraduate and graduate catalogs.
- For non-discrimination and harassment complaints, see the student handbook.
If complaints cannot be resolved through internal procedures, the party may contact the NC-SARA Connecticut State Portal Entity. Details and contact information can be found on our Compliance and Disclosures page.
