Mission Statement

The mission of the Club Sports Program is to provide students with the opportunity to participate in competitive Club Sports against other intercollegiate teams, with a focus on student leadership, development, and involvement. The teams are administered by students under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports and the Coordinator of Competitive Sports.

Our Teams

  • Baseball

    The Club Baseball team are back-to-back champions in 2019 and 2020 as members of the NECBA. They have moved to a more competitive league, the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA). They compete in conference play on weekends in the fall and spring semester and will compete towards a conference and league national competition.

  • Men's Basketball

    The Men's Club Basketball team is currently a member of the National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA) — and qualified for the Regional Tournament in the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons. Their season consists of 16 conference games and a regional tournament that are played throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.

  • Women's Basketball

    The Women’s Club Basketball team is filled with a group of athletes who love basketball and still want to compete throughout college. Practices are typically twice a week and are filled with drills, competitive games, and going over plays to set them up to compete. The Women’s Club Basketball team has been successful as they finished last season with a 14-3 record.

  • Equestrian

    The Equestrian team is a member of Zone 1 - Region 5 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and they compete on weekends in the fall and the spring semester. Riders consistently level up throughout the season and qualify for regionals or zones year after year. They practice year-round at N&C Equestrian in Newtown, CT.

  • ESports

    The Esports Club competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) where they compete against other universities such as Rider, Quinnipiac, Iona, and Saint Peters. They currently participate in Rocket League, League of Legends, Valorant, Overwatch, and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

  • Field Hockey

    The Field Hockey team practices 1-2 times per week and competes during the fall and spring semesters as members of the National Field Hockey League. Their main competitive season is during the fall, but they also set up competitions in the spring.

  • Golf

    The Club Golf team has qualified for five national tournaments in destinations such as Disney World, Myrtle Beach, and Las Vegas. Practice is played at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course, and scheduled around members classes, occurring 1-2 times a week. The club carries a roster of 20, while only eight players compete in each tournament.

  • Men's Ice Hockey

    The Men's Ice Hockey team competes in the Empire Conference of the Collegiate Hockey Federation (CHF). They have qualified for the National Championships every year for the last 9 years. They finished in second place in their conference this year and finished with an overall record of 15-7-1. The team has a contract with the Rinks at Shelton, where they practice twice a week and compete in games on the weekends.

  • Women's Ice Hockey

    While Women's Ice Hockey is one of the newest club sports teams, the Stags still participate in the Associate Division in the Independent Women’s Club Hockey League (IWCHL). The team competes in the Fall and Spring (November – early March) and currently practices at the Rinks in Shelton.

  • Men's Lacrosse

    The Men's Club Lacrosse team is a member of the National Lacrosse League (NCLL). The Stags compete in Division 1 for the NCLL and made it to the NCLL top 16 (2018) and to the Elite 8 tournament in Annapolis, MD (2019). The team competes in the New York Metro Division against other universities such as Hofstra, Sacred Heart, Stony Brook, UMass, Rutgers, Fordham, and Providence.

  • Women's Lacrosse

    The Club Women’s Lacrosse team is a member of the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (WCLA) and competes in the New England Women's Lacrosse League (NEWLL). The NEWLL considers the spring semester to be their "in-season" calendar, so the team competes in conference play in the Spring and non-conference games in the Fall semester.

  • Roundnet

    Club Roundnet is part of the Northeast section of the Spikeball College Roundnet Series, where they compete against dozens of colleges from across the country, such as Northeastern, UConn, UCLA, Ohio State, Georgia, and JMU. They compete in weekend tournaments held by individual schools, and in official tournaments sanctioned by the Spikeball Tour Series, where they compete for a spot in the College Nationals tournament.

  • Men's Rugby

    The Men’s Rugby Club enjoys an outstanding level of competition and national exposure playing in the D1A Liberty Conference. League opponents include Northeastern, UConn, Fordham, Boston College, URI, Tufts, and UMass. In its more than 55-year history, Fairfield Rugby has built a powerful legacy of excellence on and off the field. The players, coaches, administrators, and alumni are a formidable team in support of the program, and each other.

  • Women's Rugby

    The Women's Rugby Club currently competes in 15s in the fall and 7s in the spring. The team competes in the D2 Tri-State Conference and competes against teams throughout the northeast including Hofstra, Vassar, University of New Haven, Rutgers, and Stony Brook. The team qualified for the Sweet Sixteen Nationals in 2018 and again in 2021, earning a national ranking! Fairfield Women's Rugby celebrated its 25th anniversary in the fall of 2019.

  • Running

    The Fairfield Club Running Team trains several times a week on and around campus. Team members plan their participation in local area road races throughout the Connecticut region. Typically, these races include 5K and 10K courses. There are five runs available per week (three to five miles per time). Every year, they run two half marathons: one in the fall and one in the spring.

  • Sailing

    The Fairfield University Sailing Team is a Tier I Club Sport. The team was founded in 1962 by Charles Galardi (‘65). They compete against other schools in the highly competitive New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA). The team practices at Captain’s Cove Seaport in Bridgeport, CT. Practices are held three days a week and team members compete in regattas in the New England region on the weekends. The Fall season starts in the beginning of September and ends in early November, and the Spring Season starts in early March and ends in the beginning of May.

  • Ski & Snowboard

    The Fairfield University Club Ski and Snowboard team is a coed competitive team in alpine ski, free ski, and snowboarding. They are members of the Atlantic Highlands Conference under the United States Ski and Snowboard Collegiate Association (USCSA). The team’s success can be seen as they have had multiple wins and podiums, both individually and as a team, at the conference and regional level.

  • Men's Soccer

    Within just a few short years, Men's Club Soccer has demonstrated effective self-management and, as a result, continues to thrive. The team competes in the NIRSA Region 1 Soccer league under the Constitution Division. The fall schedule can also include the prestigious NIRSA Region One Tournament staged in the Philadelphia area. This is a two-day soccer event with clubs from the entire northeast and middle Atlantic regions in attendance. They compete against schools such as Sacred Heart, Marist, Yale, University of New Haven and Quinnipiac.

  • Women's Soccer

    The Fairfield Club Women's Soccer Team is a member of the Women's NIRSA Region 1 Collegiate Club Soccer League under the Connecticut Division. The team currently competes in both Fall and Spring Semesters, and competes against other institutions such as the University of Connecticut, Sacred Heart, Wesleyan, Quinnipiac, Trinity, and the University of New Haven. The Women’s Soccer team recently made it to Regionals in the 2019 Fall Season.

  • Softball

    The Club Softball team is a member of the North Atlantic-North division in the National Club Softball Association (NCSA) as of Sept. 2022. Club Softball plays a 3-game series against the teams in their conference such as SHU and Quinnipiac and has the opportunity to play teams outside their conference, including Providence College and UCONN. They hold tryouts in the fall, then practice one to two times a week, and compete on the weekend in the fall and spring. This is a great way to continue playing competitive softball and meet fellow Stags!

  • Swimming

    The Club Swim team is a fairly new addition to the many club sports offered at Fairfield, but is a co-ed team with a lot of spirit and heart. They accept students of all swimming backgrounds, from those that have been swimming for several years to those who have little to no experience. They practice weekday evenings at the Rec Plex on campus. The team is a part of the College Club Swim Association, which is affiliated with the U.S. Masters Swimming, and participate in the Northeast Conference. They are thrilled to begin their season and throughout the year will be welcoming to new members!

  • Tennis

    The Fairfield Club Tennis Team (co-ed) currently competes in the USTA New England Club Tennis League. Other schools in this conference include Quinnipiac, UCONN, Harvard, and many other northeastern schools. The team competes in both fall and spring and train during the winter. In terms of recent achievements, the club placed third in the bronze bracket of the 2019 USTA New England Sectionals, which were held at Harvard.

  • Ultimate Frisbee

    In scrimmages and exhibitions, the Ultimate Frisbee Club team typically competes against institutions such as Sacred Heart University and the University of New Haven. However, they also play against teams from across the Northeast area in tournaments. The team has traveled as far north as Saratoga Springs and as far south as West Point and Central New Jersey, to play in tournaments. The Ultimate Frisbee team won a tournament at Southern Connecticut State (Fall 2019).

  • Men's Volleyball

    The Fairfield Club Volleyball team is a fun and competitive team. They are members of the New England Collegiate Volleyball League (NECVL) and compete in the fall and spring semesters against other schools such as Marist, Bryant, Boston College, Tufts, and URI. They practice twice a week and compete in tournaments throughout the year, one of which they host here at the Rec Plex. They finished 3rd in D2 AA at Nationals in 2022!

  • Women's Volleyball

    The Women's Club Volleyball team competes in three tournaments per semester. The team is a member of the Northeast Women's Volleyball Club League (NWVCL) and compete against universities such as Cornell, University of Connecticut, Boston University, and Northeastern. They have regularly qualified for Nationals over the last few years.
