The Recreation Department at Fairfield University has something for everyone.

Through well-rounded sports and exercise programs and well-maintained equipment, we strive to produce a top-rate recreational experience for the University community. We pledge to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes recreation as a means to better one's self mentally, physically, and socially. We make it our mission to inspire individuals to lead a reduced-stress lifestyle by maintaining a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

Get Up, Get Involved

Whether you’re an athlete with an undying passion for the game or a beginner looking for fun ways to stay fit, Fairfield has more than 20 club sports and intramural activities to get your body moving. Our intramural teams require no prior experience, while our student-led clubs regularly compete against area colleges.

Intramural Sports

Intramural sports are an integral part of student life at Fairfield University. There are more than 25 different intramural activities that include full seasons, one day, or weekend tournaments.

Fairfield Fit

Fairfield Fit is available to supplement your weekly routine with exciting fitness classes including Zumba, Pilates, and Yoga. All classes are free to all RecPlex members.

Student Employment

Interested in joining the RecPlex staff? The RecPlex is looking for certified student instructors to teach classes during the academic year.

Hours and Membership

The RecPlex is now accepting Fairfield University and Prep faculty, staff, part-time students, full-time contractors, and alumni memberships.

Aquatics

The Fairfield University Aquatics Center is an 8-lane 25-meter pool. The Aquatics Center is home to Fairfield University's Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams.

  • Open swim is not permitted during any swim meets
  • University swim teams have separate locker rooms
  • Pool is ADA accesible
  • Pool has one 3 meter diving board and two 1 meter boards
  • Members may rent lockers online with an additional fee
  • Personal locks may be used daily, while in the facility
  • Usage of personal locks, left overnight, is not permitted, and risk removal

Pool availability for open swim is subject to change. Open swim can be canceled due to the swim team's schedule changes, lifeguard staffing and/or mechanical facility maintenance. The Department of Recreation strongly urges our patrons to confirm the open swim schedule prior to arriving on site.
