Overview
Internships provide students with practical skills and the beginning of a professional network, both of which are essential for a successful transition to employment. We encourage all of our majors to have at least one internship that complements their interests in international studies or international business.
The International Studies Program partners with the Dolan School of Business and the Career Planning Center to support the professional development of international business and international studies majors. By registering for IL 298, students can earn up to 3 credit hours for their internship(s). One internship can count as a major elective, while an additional internship can count for general elective credit. Students are required to have a minimum GPA of 2.8 in order to enroll in an internship.
Our internships prepare students for careers in diplomacy, multinational organizations, development, politics, financial institutions, service industries, social entrepreneurship, law, trading organizations, non-profit and government institutions, among others.
International Internships
The International Studies program offers a wide range of international internships that improve access to global learning opportunities for a diverse pool of students, and expand those opportunities to less commonly selected locations, specifically in the Global South.
These short-term interdisciplinary summer internships are ideal for students with heavy curricular commitments or extra curricular scheduling constraints during the regular semester, or for students already abroad that are looking to enrich their studies with a practical, professional experience.
