How to Clear Your Cache

The DiMenna-Nyselius Library is migrating servers to better serve the students, faculty, and staff of Fairfield University. As a result, some users may have trouble accessing parts of our website.

If you encounter any broken links we suggest clearing your cache to be sure you’re loading the latest version of the website. Below are steps for clearing cache on different browsers and mobile devices.

After you complete these steps you will need to restart your browser before the site will work properly.

For Desktop Browsers

Google Chrome

  1. Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner (menu icon).
  2. Go to More tools > Clear browsing data.
  3. In the dialog box, choose All time from the "Time range" dropdown.
  4. Check the box next to Cached images and files.
  5. Click Clear data.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner.
  2. Select History > Clear Recent History.
  3. In the "Time range to clear" dropdown, choose Everything.
  4. Check the box next to Cache.
  5. Click OK.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner (menu icon).
  2. Select Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
  3. Under the Clear browsing data section, click Choose what to clear.
  4. Choose All time for the time range.
  5. Check the box next to Cached images and files.
  6. Click Clear now.

Safari (macOS)

  1. Click on Safari in the top menu bar.
  2. Select Preferences > Advanced.
  3. Enable Show Develop menu in menu bar.
  4. In the menu bar, click Develop > Empty Caches.

Opera

  1. Click the Opera logo in the top-left corner.
  2. Go to History > Clear browsing data.
  3. Set the time range to All time.
  4. Check the box next to Cached images and files.
  5. Click Clear data.


For Mobile Browsers

Chrome (Android/iOS)

  1. Open the Chrome app.
  2. Tap the three dots in the upper-right corner (menu icon) > History.
  3. Select Clear browsing data.
  4. Choose a time range (recommended: All time).
  5. Check Cached images and files.
  6. Tap Clear data.

Safari (iOS)

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap Safari.
  3. Scroll down and tap Clear History and Website Data.
  4. Confirm by tapping Clear History and Data.

Samsung Internet (Android)

  1. Open the Samsung Internet browser.
  2. Tap the three lines in the bottom-right corner > Settings.
  3. Tap Privacy > Delete browsing data.
  4. Select Cached images and files.
  5. Tap Delete.

Firefox (Android/iOS)

  1. Open Firefox and tap the three-dot menu icon.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Scroll to Clear private data.
  4. Check Cache.
  5. Tap Clear data.

Additional Notes:

  • After clearing your cache, close and reopen your browser to ensure that all changes take effect.
  • For some users, a complete browser reset may be required if clearing the cache alone does not resolve issues.
